Patios re-imagined

We have been installing patio coverings for clients throughout Ireland since 2022. These typically can be:
Pergolas, Verandas, Shading structures – Brise Soleil, Laneway upgrades, Carports and Outdoor gyms

Pergola type patio coverings
Normally stand alone pergola type coverings whereby the space underneath can be used as an upgraded outdoor patio area. These are usually in galvanised steel but can come painted or with timber coverings on the uprights.

Veranda type structures along the wall of a house for shading
These structures can be used to provide shading in Summer for homes that might have issues around overheating, i.e. used as Brise-Soleil. Sometimes we also get asked for apex-roof structures to provide the required shading in Summer.

Lean-to structures along the wall of a house for laneway upgradings
These structures can be used to provide a covered space in your laneway, but with the added benefit of solar PV power being generated.

Carport type structures
With these structures EV chargers can be integrated and often they are used for parking cars underneath.

Bike shelters / sheds
We also can design structures for any use that you might have, from bike shelters to outdoor gyms, we can integrate sheeting or timber cladding as required.

Here are some samples of the work we have completed including a 21 panel steel pergola, facing due South, with just over 8.5KWp capacity, is now covering a beautiful patio area in Co. Galway.

The dappling effect of our specially selected PV panels gives the whole structure a light, elegant feel.

Please contact us if you would like a case-study on this or any of our other innovative projects.

Creating light filled spaces while harnessing the potential of Solar PV

A new covered area to enjoy family meals together and clean green solar power to keep the lights on and the EV running, these were the requirements of another of our recent clients.  In this case we designed a canopy with special light-well sections along with the use of special bi-facial panels.

The overall effect is to create a space that is now multi-use, allowing the family to maximise the enjoyment of the outdoor space at their home.

With 14 panels overall, 6 on their new Solar Structure, the homeowners have 5.8KWp of clean electricity.

We would like to thank the client for their vision on this project and for their support.

Revamping outdoor spaces via Solar PV

Like an episode from one of those Channel 4 property revamp programs from the 2000’s, we are very happy to unveil our own transformation project.  The client had a pretty messy enclosed area to the side of their home and wanted something ‘special’.  Like all good property transformation shows the key is in the big reveal!

We helped transform this space into a dry, light-filled, green-energy generating machine!

With 6 bifacial panels letting light through and a bespoke design with polycarbonate sections along with timber cladding, the new space matches the client’s need for an upgraded outdoor space.  Now with no more rain falling on the space and reaping the benefits, it could be said that the space is now truly transformed!

A quick thank you to the client for their vision and their trust.

Outdoor spaces re-imagined – Solar PV carports

A great leap forward for the premier county as Tipperary County has its first timber Carport!

We have just installed an 18 panel, 7.2KWp carport in timber at a site in Tipperary.  The client wished to maximise their investment in Solar PV by combining it with adding a carport to their site.

Our two berth design can be used for a variety of uses from off-grid car charging stations to domestic carports to elegant patio areas.

We would like to thank the homeowner and John Lowry and the team at Home and Agri (https://www.homeandagrienergy.ie/) for partnering with us on this fantastic project.

Now all we need is for the sun to start shining all the month of September!

Making hay while the sun is shining

With our latest project, we wished to show the potential of using SolarPV arrays to upgrade outdoor spaces.

In this case the agricultural sheds were in an East West orientation and the client only required a modest number of panels.  The solution was a series of supports to allow the panels to be optimally oriented, while also creating additional covered space underneath.

We thought that this solution shows the possibilities of innovative Solar PV deployments.  For more ideas and inspiration, join us on our journey at Solar Structures.

Perfect panel orientation while protecting the rubbish bins

We just thought to highlight another recent project, which enabled the home-owner to orient his new Solar array due South for maximum generation.  Our galvanised steel structure has created the perfect space for storing his bins underneath, protected from the wild weather of the Wild Atlantic Way.  That said, after two weeks of non-stop sunshine, the wild weather seems to be a world away.

This project has 10 420W panels and was undertaken in conjunction with JFW renewables.  We would like to thank the homeowner for taking this journey with us.
