Creating a Sheltered, All-Season Seating Space at POTA, Conamara
In the heart of Conamara, award-winning café POTA is known for its exceptional food, local produce and strong connection to place. Like many hospitality businesses on the west coast, they were also keenly aware of the impact weather can have on outdoor seating — particularly wind and rain limiting use outside the summer months.
The brief was clear: improve comfort for customers, extend the usable season of the seating area, and do so in a way that felt authentic to POTA’s character and surroundings. Ní hamháin feidhmiúil, ach álainn freisin.
We worked closely with the POTA team to develop a bespoke structural solution, carefully designed to provide shelter while maintaining an open, welcoming feel. The structure was paired with high-quality custom timber work, creating a warm, natural aesthetic that complements both the café and the wider Conamara landscape.
Every element of the project was tailored to the site — from wind protection and durability to visual impact and customer experience. The result is a striking, comfortable seating area that allows POTA to welcome guests for more months of the year, whatever the weather. Spás a oibríonn don ghnó agus do na custaiméirí araon.
All design and fabrication work was carried out in County Galway, ensuring close attention to detail and a genuinely bespoke outcome. The finished space is not only practical, but a real extension of POTA’s identity — crafted, thoughtful and rooted in place.
We’re delighted with the outcome and proud to have worked with such a distinctive Conamara business. If you’re a café, restaurant or hospitality venue looking to enhance your outdoor spaces with a custom-designed structure, bí i dteagmháil linn — we’d be happy to talk.
